Photographs for Every Season of Life

Amanda McQuade is a professional fine-art photographer based in Charlotte, NC.

She prefers photographs that are filled with sunlight and connection.

Her style is warm, soft, and minimal.

We Live in a Crazy-Beautiful World

I've always been a people-person, a story-person, a drawn-to-old-photographs-person.

My first memories are of that of overly-dramatized family stories, told by my eclectic group of descendants from Germany, France, and Native Americas (I'm actually 1/8th Native America, and can trace it back to early East Coast tribes).

I remember as a child placing a flower in my grandmothers casket, my big brother carrying me. I remember as a 13 year old girl searching the faded headstones in northern KY for family names, reading their inscriptions and wondering how much we had in common. Did I look like them? Did they sound like me?

Story-telling has been in my blood for generations, handed down to me by these wonderers, highwaymen, pioneers, farmers, and believers.

Born and raised in rural Ohio, I carry in my photography a deep sense of family, calm evenings, quiet fields, and lazy afternoons. I'm a midwesterner at heart; where everyone is a friend, a neighbor. And focusing on these small easily-forgotten moments echoes throughout my photography.

I didn't set out to be a wedding or even a newborn portrait photographer. I set out to be a writer, and worked in publishing for a good time, until I felt drawn once again to photography. I minored in fine art photography in college (Ohio State) and came back to it once more when we moved 13 years ago to the Charlotte area from Los Angeles (the story of how we got to NC via LA from Ohio is quite a funny one - ask me about it!)

Over the years I've been a motherhood and family photographer, one thing is pretty clear: story and light in the wonder of God's creation, are what speaks to me.

I would love to chat with you about the important moments or people you want to remember. I hope to hear from you soon.

I Believe In:

Authentic photographs, that re-tell your life story, generation after generation.

Clean, uncluttered images, full of sunset light, and lovely soft colors.

Connection through peaceful moments, documenting feelings over forced smiles.

Taking your time. De-stressing the photography process.

The Studio

My natural-light studio, located in the heart of historic Uptown NoDa, is perfect for a dreamy newborn session, minimal/modern maternity sessions, or a simple baby milestone session.

On-Location

Fields and natural locations produce some of my favorite dreamy sunset images. Locations are chosen based on the season and it's view of the sunset. These are perfect for newborn sessions (yes, newborn can be outside!) to unscripted family sessions.

Amanda McQuade Photography is a Charlotte wedding and fine art portrait photographer who documents weddings and families in dreamy light and in authentic ways. Her style is natural, romantic, candid, and storytelling wedding photography. She is based out of Charlotte, NC but are also available to photograph weddings and fun-loving families in Lake Norman, Asheville, Charleston, the Outer Banks, Virginia, and for destination weddings worldwide! She loves getting to know each of our couples and learning what makes every bride and groom’s story unique. A true lover of travel, she adores photographing weddings in any setting, but love to travel and especially love photographing outdoor weddings at lakes, vineyards, private estates, beaches, barns, and in the NC mountains such as the Blue Ridge Parkway. Amanda has a documentary photojournalism background and love to bring that out to capture beautiful candid moments at all of her weddings.
