Motherhood sessions (maternity, newborn, or just mommy & me photography) are some of the nearest and dearest to my soul. Motherhood is such an exhausting and rewarding journey. It requires SO MUCH of us. Our bodies, our minds being pulled in a thousand directions, endless patience, care, and an amazing amount of sleep-loss. Mothers are often overlooked in our society. We are more than likely the ones barring the brunt of the current pandemic with online schooling, working from home (or in hospitals and schools). We are the ones more-likely to take low-paying, service jobs because we are the care-givers, the hearts of our home. 

So documenting mothers and motherhood with maternity photography is such a great passion of mine. I love warm-light, nature, and minimal photography when photographing mothers because it draws our attention to the journey itself and the person whose body is forever altered by this course. We never fully recover, we never fully regain what we once were, and are instead transformed into a more real and beautiful version of ourselves - the person thats grown, born, and fed the future of this world.

So on a sunny day in the summer, I met this lovely family and photographed these last moments as a family of three (before the twins would arrive later in the early fall).
